Schedule an advising appointment

How to schedule an advising appointment

Students wishing to schedule an in-person, Zoom or phone appointment with their academic advisor may call 602-496-5055 on Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., and the receptionist will help you. Please have your 10-digit ASU ID number ready when you call.

Zoom and phone appointments may also be booked via our online scheduling system (see information/links below). Please note the online scheduling system only displays two weeks of availability for each advisor. If the advisor’s schedule is full, students should return to the scheduling system the following day to see the next chronological day with open appointments.

Appointments for students who are new to ASU are 60 minutes; appointments for continuing ASU students are 30 minutes. A limited number of Express Advising appointments are offered on Tuesdays and Fridays; these 15-minute appointments may only be booked day-of by calling the advising receptionist.

Please be aware that while academic advisors have some knowledge of financial aid and other financial issues, the ASU Financial Services Office can better answer your financial aid questions. That office may be reached at 855-278-5080.

Current ASU students seeking to change their major to a Cronkite program

Students admitted to or attending ASU but who are not in a Cronkite School program and who desire to change majors should go to the Changing Majors resource site. About halfway down, you will see several large maroon buttons; look for the one titled Change My Major. Click that, and answer the questions. You will be contacted about scheduling an appointment.

Students not yet eligible to enter their preferred Cronkite program

Students who are not yet eligible to enter a Cronkite School program but who wish to discuss their options with an academic advisor may go to this page and select the “Students not yet accepted to Cronkite School” button.

Same-day express advising

For quick conversations or questions that may not warrant a full session, same-day Express Advising is offered by appointment only with our Academic Success Advising Coordinator Brad Longwell on Tuesdays (1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.) and Fridays (11 a.m. to 12 p.m.). To schedule an Express Advising meeting, call the front desk at 602-496-5055 on the morning of your desired appointment.

Express Advising meetings are limited to 15 minutes and may be appropriate for the following:

  • Follow-up from previous advising appointment
  • Signing forms
  • Students who want to confirm enrollment
  • Drop/withdraw questions close to deadlines
  • Considering changing majors out of Cronkite School
  • Seeking information about adding a concurrent major (for current Cronkite students)
  • Guidance to other university resources
  • Students with eAdvising holds

Please note that if your need for advisement is extensive, we may require that you schedule an appointment with your advisor.

Email advising

Students may email their advisor in lieu of appointments for certain topics, including:

  • Accessing and instructions on completing forms
  • Confirming already enrolled classes
  • Drop/withdraw questions close to deadlines
  • Considering changing majors out of the Cronkite School
  • Guidance to other University resources
  • Students with eAdvising holds
  • Requests to add/remove minors
  • Override request information
  • Compassionate/medical withdrawal information

Please be aware that advisors may determine that email is not sufficient to address your questions or concerns and may instead recommend scheduling an appointment.
