Audio at Cronkite
Perfect your podcasting, play-by-play and hosting skills at the Cronkite School, where our award-winning audio experiences put the mic in your hands.
The global podcasting market size surpassed $24 billion in 2023, and is projected to reach $131 billion by 2032. That's a lot of listening!
At the Cronkite School, students learn how to create compelling audio content strategically: They work to understand their audiences, then create (and even monetize!) sound experiences that engage them. Cronkite students create their own podcasts, report impactful audio news stories, announce sports games, lead play-by-play coverage, host radio shows and more.
Cronkite students explore audio through hands-on courses in podcast development, radio reporting and multimedia content creation. They learn the role of audio content in the modern media landscape, and gain the technical and storytelling skills to collaboratively execute all aspects of audio production, including scripting, interviewing, hosting, producing, editing, publishing and promotion. Expert Cronkite faculty, 32 fully-loaded editing bays and an equipment lab full of microphones and other media equipment ensure students are prepared to create listenable content.
Why consider a career in audio? Audio content is at once accessible and incredibly intimate: Sound storytellers talk with subjects, capture scenes, tell stories and call games that aren't always possible with a camera, while audiences love audio content for its portability. And that industry boom? Audio needs skilled, strategic graduates to meet that huge demand!
