Cronkite Convocation: Celebrating Your Graduation

Cronkite students graduating this spring and their families have two ways to commemorate the big occasion: a special Cronkite Convocation in addition to a virtual university commencement!

Virtual Cronkite Convocation

The Cronkite School will host a special, real-time celebration with a streamed event via Facebook and on YouTube from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12. It will be followed by an opportunity for students to meet up virtually with their classmates and teachers via Zoom breakout rooms. Families are welcome to join.

Special note: All spring graduates also are invited to come back to fully participate in person in the December 2020 or May 2021 Cronkite convocations. You’ll receive information on how to RSVP via ASU email and your MyASU page. The December 2020 RSVP system will open mid-October 2020, and the May 2021 RSVP system will open mid-March 2021.

Virtual University Commencement

ASU will host a virtual ceremony on Monday, May 11, for members of the class of 2020 to celebrate their achievements. This pre-recorded ceremony, to be available on a new Commencement website and aired on YouTube, will feature graduating students, a message from ASU President Michael Crow and more. Cronkite students will be able to navigate the website to find specific content about the Cronkite School, including videos and student photos. Check here for updates. For additional details, visit the ASU Spring 2020 Commencement FAQ page.

Students are asked to complete an online RSVP for University Commencement, which includes submitting a photo, personal message and name pronunciation. ASU Commencement (commence@asu.edu) sent instructions April 6 to all ASU students via their ASU email addresses. If you are unable to locate the email, first check your spam folder for an email with the subject line "Submit Your Graduation Slide." The sender email is commence@asu.edu.

If you are unable to locate the email, go to https://asu.marchingorder.com/#/registration and submit your ASU email address. This will trigger a new password email to your ASU email account. If you need further assistance, please contact csevents@asu.edu.

The last day for RSVPs is Monday, April 27. Students who don’t RSVP by that date can still participate by logging onto the ASU Commencement website on May 11, but their photos and personal messages will not be included.

Don’t Forget!

Here are a few other things you’ll want to take care of before graduation:

Apply for Graduation: The deadline to apply for spring 2020 graduation was Feb. 17, 2020. However, students may apply past the deadline and pay a late fee of $35.

Visit the University Registrar Graduation Page for graduation application instructions.

Request Honors Cords: Undergraduates who are eligible for honor cords should request them here. The Registrar’s office will mail them to you. Please update your home address via MyASU to ensure the delivery of your honor cords.

Update Your Address: Diplomas are mailed approximately six to eight weeks after the degree conferral date to the home address on file with University Registrar Services. Please update your home address via MyASU prior to commencement to ensure the delivery of your diploma.
