The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication Convocation ceremony is where students are individually recognized, cross the stage, and receive their diploma cover.
Graduates must arrive at the Southeast entrance of Mountain America Stadium at 8:00 a.m. to check-in and get their reader card. Desert Financial Arena will open for guests at 8:00 a.m.

Commencement is the official Arizona State University ceremony for graduates. All graduates are encouraged to attend this ceremony, and should plan to arrive by 6 p.m. ASU President Michael M. Crow will confer degrees upon graduating students at these ceremonies. For more information, visit the University’s Graduation Website.

Spring 2024 Graduate Commencement
9:00 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2024
Commencement is the official Arizona State University ceremony for graduates. All graduates are encouraged to attend this ceremony, and should plan to arrive by 7:30 a.m. ASU President Michael M. Barrett, The Honors College Convocation
2 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2024
Barrett, The Honors College will hold a convocation ceremony to honor and recognize undergraduate students graduating with honors. Graduates should plan to arrive at Desert Financial Arena by 1:00 p.m.
Getting ready for graduation
Academic Recognition
Undergraduate students must have completed at least 56 semester hours of resident credit at ASU to qualify for graduation with academic recognition for a baccalaureate degree. If you have achieved the required GPA at the conclusion of the semester immediately preceding commencement, you will have earned the right to wear honor cords at the ceremonies. If you are eligible for honor cords, you can pick them up at any registrar’s office on your campus. If you are an ASU Online student who has earned honor cords, they will be mailed to you automatically by EdPlus/ASU Online.
· Summa Cum Laude = Maroon and Gold, 3.80 to 4.00 GPA
· Magna Cum Laude = Gold, 3.60 to 3.79 GPA
· Cum Laude = Maroon, 3.40 to 3.59 GPA
Graduation Fair Dates
The Spring 2024 Grad Fair will be online and is the only time graduation packages will be discounted.
The Online Grad Fair will run from Friday, February 9 at 8:00 a.m. MST to Friday, March 1 at 8:00 p.m. MST. Keep an eye on your inbox on Friday, February 9 for the unique URL you will need to be able to access your discounted graduation packages.
If you are not able to make the Online Grad Fair, you can purchase your graduation package online here. Please note, after the Grad Fair, graduation packages will be full price. After the Grad Fair, all four Sun Devil Campus Stores will have graduation products available for purchase until Graduation.
Photo and Video
Grad Images, Inc. is the official photographer for our ceremony. All graduates are photographed twice. A proof sheet and price list will be mailed to each graduate approximately 10 days after the ceremony. In addition, an electronic order form will be emailed to the email address you used to RSVP. For those not able to attend convocation ceremonies, Grad Images will be taking complimentary graduation photos at each of ASU’s campuses. Parking
Lot 59 is available to the general public during the convocation ceremony. Additional parking is available in the Packard Drive South parking structure. More information about parking »
Food, Drink, and Clear Bag Policy
Concession stands will be open for guests on the main concourse. Food and beverages will not be allowed on the floor. Desert Financial Arena observes ASU’s clear bag policy for everyone (graduating students, parents, families, guests, faculty, staff, etc.). Caps, Gowns and Graduation Announcements
Your graduation cap, gown, announcements, diploma frames and rings may be purchased online through Herff Jones.
Guests requiring special assistance
Students should indicate on the MarchingOrder RSVP form the number of guests in need of special seating arrangements and a description of what kind of accommodation each guest will require. Also, Cronkite students, please contact the Cronkite School Events team at csevents@asu.edu to further discuss arrangements for any of your guests needing special assistance.
Flowers
Leis and bouquets will be sold at the convocation ceremonies. Students and guests are encouraged to pre-order for pick up before the ceremony so they can wear their leis on stage and in pictures. To order, visit the Commencement Group pre-order page.
