Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication won eight Student Production Awards from the Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

The Cronkite School tied for the most awards among universities after receiving nominations in 13 categories, including all of the nominations in the College Talent — News or Sports and College Public Affairs Community Service categories and the only nomination in the College Arts/Entertainment/Cultural Affairs and College Writer categories.

“Our students are committed to practicing the craft of journalism with excellence and serving the needs of the community. I am extremely proud of their work and they never cease to amaze me with their accomplishments. It’s truly an honor to see them recognized,” said Cronkite School Dean Battinto L. Batts Jr.

Noelle Blumel, who graduated in spring 2023, received two individual awards, winning an award for “The Anthony Robles Story” in the College Sports Story or Segment category and also taking the award for “College Talent — News or Sports.” Cronkite students also won awards in the College Video Essay, College Non-fiction — Short Form, College Sports Story or Segment, and College Sports Program categories.

The Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences honors the art and science of individuals working in television with Emmy® Awards, and covers the regions of Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and southeastern California.
