Are newsrooms ready for the unique challenges that will accompany the 2020 election?

Frank Mungeam, Knight Professor of Practice for TV News Innovation at the Cronkite School, addressed those issues in an opinion piece titled “Your election plan is toast: Why the 2020 vote demands a different approach” on the Knight-Cronkite News Lab website.

Mungeam, who was recently hired as chief innovation officer at the Local Media Association, also discussed these issues on an episode of the Knight Foundation’s “Informed & Engaged” series.

The piece highlights why newsrooms need to take a different approach towards covering the upcoming election and offers tips for preparation.

The Knight-Cronkite News Lab is a joint effort between the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the Cronkite School to focus on innovation and experiments in local newsrooms across the country.
