The Career Services team at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication has launched a new virtual summer series for Cronkite alumni who are looking to advance their careers.

The Cronkite Nation Pro+U Summer Series features a panel of alumni who share expertise on a variety of topics, including how to start a media company, ways to improve professional resumes, and how to take the next steps within a company.

The series began on May 15 and will continue on June 12 with events every other Saturday until July 24. All events begin at 11 a.m. Arizona time.

Becca Smouse, a program coordinator with the Career Services team, came up with the idea for hosting this series of events. She said the idea originated with the intention of increasing engagement with the Cronkite School’s alumni network.

The Career Services team determined through a survey of more than 100 respondents that a workshop series would be a good starting point to give alumni career advice.

“We really wanted to have this idea that the Cronkite School is here to help you not only when you’re a student but also as a professional because you reflect the Cronkite School brand,” Smouse said. “You’re a part of our Cronkite School family and we take care of our family.”
