Dual Degree: MMC/Sustainability Solutions
Earn a Master of Arts in Mass Communication through the Cronkite School and a Master of Sustainability Solutions from the School of Sustainability.
First of its kind in the nation, this concurrent master’s degree program was developed for incoming students interested in careers reporting on environmental issues and alternative energy, as well as for those working in sustainability sciences who communicate with journalists. The course of study immerses students in the methodology of sustainability research and problem solving, perspectives on sustainability, project management and methods through the School of Sustainability. The Master of Sustainability Solutions degree provides a knowledge base and skill sets to bring sustainability solutions to corporate, government and nongovernmental organization secors.
At the Cronkite School, they participate in advanced-level classes in reporting, data journalism and multimedia journalism. Students also have the opportunity to cover sustainability issues for Cronkite News, the school’s award-winning student news operation and news division of Arizona PBS.

In the MMC, students can explore opportunities in multimedia journalism, strategic communications, audience engagement, media leadership and innovation. The MSUS is designed to prepare students to apply sustainability principles and approaches to careers in a variety of fields, addressing complex human and environmental challenges.
