Cronkite News Borderlands

Students cover issues important to the Southwest, including immigration, the border and Indigenous communities.

Report on border issues

The Borderlands bureau in Cronkite News is a multi-platform reporting team dedicated to coverage of immigration, border issues and Indigenous communities in the Southwest. Building on other Spanish-language, borderlands and bilingual classes at the Cronkite School, the experience gives both digital and broadcast reporters a deep understanding of border communities by immersing in them: Borderlands reporters often take reporting trips to the U.S./Mexico border, and to Indigenous communities across Arizona. Borderlands reporters emerge with immigration expertise that translates to their next newsroom.
