Join us at the ASU California Center on April 25 as ASU Professor of Practice Peter Byck moderates a panel discussion about the making of a documentary titled “The Holly, A Documentary Film by Julian Rubinstein.” Julian Rubinstein and his Intellectual property litigation attorney, Robert Gutierez, discuss the process of assembling a cast to be interviewed on film, security concerns, and legal issues before and after release of the documentary and recount first-hand what happened behind the scenes of a widely acclaimed documentary.

The discussion will include insight from Nonny de la Peña, professor of practice and program director of ASU’s Narrative and Emerging Media program. De la Peña has more than 20 years of experience as an award-winning writer, director and producer in virtual, augmented and extended reality, film, print and television. Together, the panel will exchange views and experiences discussing how the deep knowledge of immersive storytelling has a way to empower new voices to share stories. Please RSVP here.

About the documentary
Based on eight years of reporting for an award-winning book by the director, “The Holly, A Documentary Film by Julian Rubinstein” goes deep inside a gentrifying community in Denver, where a shooting involving an activist becomes a window into the political machinations of urban development, policing and the city’s gang activity.
