Second Annual Cronkite Research Symposium

The second annual Cronkite Research Symposium will celebrate student research at the Cronkite School.

The Symposium will include a keynote address from Guy Harrison, assistant professor at the School of Journalism and Electronic Media at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Harrison is the author of “On the Sidelines: Gendered Neoliberalism and the American Female Sportscaster,” published in 2021 by the University of Nebraska Press, and a 2018 graduate of the Cronkite School’s doctoral program in Journalism & Mass Communication.

First-year Ph.D student Qian Li won this year’s Top Paper for her work “The Interactive Spectacle in the Digital Era: The Interactions of Media, Audiences and Capitalism” and will receive a $500 cash prize. Djordje Padejski, another first-year Ph.D student, was recognized for having the Top Abstract, which is a project about “Audience Engagement around Computer-generated News.” Li and Padejski will present their work at the symposium.

Due to safety reasons, the event will take place remotely. You can RSVP by Wednesday, Feb. 23 to receive the Zoom link to connect.
