Working at Cronkite

Policies: Faculty and academic professionals are guided by the ASU Academic Affairs Manual (ACD) and the Cronkite School Bylaws and Criteria; staff are guided by the ASU Staff Personnel policies (SPP).

Employee guide: Browse the Cronkite Employee Guide to learn how Cronkite faculty and staff communicate, meet and work together.

Professional dress: Read the Cronkite School's employee dress code.

Flexible work: The school may consider Flexible Work Arrangements (FWA) for staff after 90 days of employment based on the needs of the school and business unit. Please discuss the possibility of an FWA with your immediate supervisor prior to making the request in Workday.

Employee success: All employees' contributions to advancing ASU's charter and community are reviewed regularly. Direct questions about annual faculty reviews to associate dean Dawn Gilpin, and questions about staff reviews ("check-ins" in Workday) to director of fiscal and business operations Nazeef Ebrahim.

Time reporting: Employees must promptly and accurately report time to ensure efficient payroll processing. Please select your employee type and follow the instructions accordingly.

Staff and faculty requests for health, vacation, band volunteer must be approved by their immediate supervisor through the Request Absence task in Workday; to find it, visit Workday and select “Absence” from the top-left Menu. Review ASU’s Workday Resources for more information.

Hourly employees must promptly submit hours worked for approval by their immediate supervisor. Report time by using the Time and Scheduling Hub in Workday. Review ASU’s Workday Resources for more information.

Hiring

Student employee hiring: Student employment supports ASU learners while providing them valuable work experience. All student worker positions require budgetary and supervisor approval. When considering student worker positions, consult the ASU Student Employee standard wage scale for hourly pay rates, and note that students may work no more than 20 hours per week.

Non-student employee hiring, consulting and vendors: New positions must be approved by school leadership. Work with your supervisor to discuss, search for and hire new employees. Employees may not hire, contract or pay individuals for work, consulting or services without approval from school leadership.

ASU human resources: ASU's Office of Human Resources maintains many resources for hiring and supporting new employees.
