Center for Media & Communities

Center for Media & Communities

People centered. Community informed.

The Center for Media & Communities facilitates scholarship and programming about media representation in a changing world. By investigating how media shape and are shaped by human cultures, we provide a platform to challenge stereotypes, engage with underrepresented voices, and identify interventions that advance media equity.

Headquartered in downtown Los Angeles – one of the world’s most culturally vibrant cities – the Center also establishes connections between ASU, the Cronkite School and Southern California’s creative economies. We bring together researchers, industry experts, content creators, activists, artists and community members from various backgrounds to build trust with one another and envision the future of inclusive storytelling.

Through research and collaborative programming, we offer a lens into the power of media to not only inform, but also to create relationships across cultural divides that inspire people to work together.
