Graduate electives

Customize your graduate degree

Students in Cronkite School graduate degree programs must complete at least one graduate-level elective; review your program handbook for requirements. Elective courses give you the flexibility to shape your academic journey, deepen expertise in areas you’re interested in and align your studies with your professional goals.

How to add an elective

Review the already-approved options below: You’ll find courses approved for any Cronkite master’s program, and others that are approved for specific degrees. Check the ASU Class Search for class availability. For questions about electives or to review options in upcoming semesters that support your goals, connect with your graduate academic adviser.

Can’t find one you want below? Browse the ASU Class Search for courses numbered 500 and above, then complete the Graduate Elective Approval Request form to have the course considered for approval.
