Arizona State University students captured 12 regional Society of Professional Journalists 2024 Mark of Excellence Awards, celebrating the best collegiate journalism in the Southwest.

The Mark of Excellence Awards recognize exemplary student journalism across platforms and regions; ASU competes in Region 11 against students from California, Nevada, Hawaii, Nevada, Guam and the Mariana Islands.

The winning work represents dozens of ASU students, including journalists from Cronkite News, the Cronkite School's multiplatform newsroom that reaches nearly 2 million Arizonans each day; the Howard Center for Investigative Journalism; and the State Press, ASU's independent student news organization. Carnegie-Knight News21—an investigative journalism project that includes top students from universities across the country, headquartered at ASU—captured the Collaborative Journalism award.

The regional winners will go on to compete at the national level, with winners announced later this year.
