Cronkite students make their mark at 2024 Paris Olympics

While 26 Sun Devil athletes compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics, about two dozen students from Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication are delivering gold-medal performances as they cover the Games in the City of Light.

The Olympic Games run from July 26 through Aug. 11. During that time, Cronkite students will create more than 100 pieces of content, reporting across digital, print and broadcast platforms for about 170 news outlets—among them, The Arizona Republic, Arizona PBS and 12 News KPNX-TV. Their work is part of a capstone-level course led by Cronkite faculty including Assistant Dean Brett Kurland, who calls the school’s every-four-years Olympics experience “an immersive learning and education experience like no other.”

Students began their Olympics coverage before the opening ceremony, publishing a story on a former ASU swimmer representing France at the games and broadcasting a preview of the Arizona athletes who will compete in various sports.
