CNN Correspondent Named Visiting Professor

Susan Lisovicz Susan Lisovicz, a longtime CNN Wall Street reporter who covered the 2008 financial debacle and bailout, has been named the Reynolds Visiting Professor in Business Journalism for the spring 2011 semester at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. Lisovicz is the former president of the New York Financial Writers Association. In more than a decade at CNN, she interviewed business VIPs including Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, in addition to providing daily coverage of the dot.com boom and bust and the financial aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. She was featured on the cover of BusinessWeek for the story “What the Market is Telling Us.” At the Cronkite School, Lisovicz will be assisting with business journalism and broadcast journalism courses, with an emphasis on helping Cronkite students produce business stories on the air. The position is made possible by a generous three-year, $390,000 grant from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation. The Las Vegas-based foundation also supports the Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Business Journalism and the Donald W. Reynolds Endowed Chair in Business Journalism at the Cronkite School. “Susan will be an inspiration to our business journalism students,” said Andrew Leckey, the Reynolds Chair in Business Journalism and President of the Donald W. Reynolds Center for Business Journalism at the Cronkite School. “I had the privilege of working with Susan at CNBC and can think of no one better to serve as a guide for young people to business journalism’s future.” Prior to joining CNN, Susan was a correspondent for CNBC, where she covered major events such as the merger of AOL and Time Warner. She was previously a news writer and weekend anchor for CNN Headline News. She has been an Asian Pacific Fellow, a Jefferson Fellow in Asia and a Radio Television Digital News Association fellow in Europe. She received the President’s Medal from her alma mater William Paterson University for her contributions to the university and community. “I am honored to join Arizona State University’s first-rate journalism program,” Lisovicz said. “It is a particular thrill to work with ASU’s Cronkite School, whose program recognized the importance of business journalism long before the eruption of the financial crisis. We’ll have a lot to talk about this spring.” Lisovicz is the second annual Reynolds Visiting Professor in Business Journalism.
