TV Production and Graphics Lab

Get hands-on experience in television production, post-production and motion graphics using state-of-the-art equipment.

Lights, camera, action!

The Television Production and Graphics Lab is a unique professional program at the Cronkite School in which students gain hands-on experience in television production, as well as learn to build creative and innovative motion graphics.

Students have the opportunity to learn most facets of TV studio production, including all elements of control room and studio production for a daily newscast, as well as building motion graphics for news packages, studio presentations, social media and digital platforms.

The Lab works to serve clients as the in-house production team for the Cronkite School. Students interact with the school’s various entities; they produce the daily newscast for Cronkite News, programming for Arizona PBS, and special projects for programs such as the Howard Center for Investigative Journalism.

The Television Production and Graphics Lab lets students experience a key aspect of journalism: learning what it takes to get stories on the air in a professional studio, control room and newsroom setting. They’re introduced to both the process and the people in the Phoenix TV market and beyond, and gain connections in the industry.
