Howard Center Advisory Board

The Howard Center Advisory Board provides guidance and input on the direction and operations of the Howard Center at the Cronkite School.

The board consists of seven members:

  • Maud Beelman, executive director, Howard Center
  • Liz Carter, president and CEO, Scripps Howard Foundation
  • Leonard Downie Jr., Weil Family Professor in Journalism and former executive editor of The Washington Post
  • Pam Howard, emeritus board member, Scripps Howard Foundation
  • Brian Lawlor, president of local media for The E.W. Scripps Company
  • Norm Pearlstine, executive editor, Los Angeles Times
  • Roy Perkins, communications and public affairs specialist

Ex officio members are:

  • Battinto Batts, director, Scripps Howard Foundation Journalism Fund
  • Christopher Callahan, dean, Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication
  • Kristin Gilger, senior associate dean, Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication
  • Jake Howard-Potter, artist
