 Summer High School Journalism Program

The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication offers a series of enrichment programs for middle and high school students. Programs take place during traditional school breaks and are based at the ASU's Downtown Phoenix campus or in the field. Programs are led by faculty, staff and student counselors.

Fall Break

Calling the Game

On day one high school students will head to Gila River Arena where together with FOX Sports Arizona and Arizona Coyotes on-air talent they will watch the team practice, learn the basics of play-by-play, practice calling a game and perform on-location standups. Day two will include play-by-play critique and storytelling instruction inside the Cronkite School’s state-of-the-art facility.

Spring Break

Brand Camp

Brand Camp is a two-day camp that covers the fundamentals of smart, safe social media and delves into creating your personal brand. The program supports families in promoting healthy use of the web and social media and helps students create digital content and personal brands conducive to future success.

Cost: $300 for Brand Camp or Multimedia Exploration | $550 for both camps

Multimedia Exploration

In Multimedia Exploration, students improve their visual media skills. Over the two days of the camp, students get hands-on experience in photo, graphics and video journalism. This is a great program for students who have shown an early interest in media and want to expand their multiplatform production skills and brand.

Cost: $300 for Brand Camp or Multimedia Exploration | $550 for both camps

Both Brand Camp and Multimedia Exploration are offered to middle and high school students. Students will be grouped based on grade level.
