Cronkite Sports Broadcast Boot Camp

Cronkite School students
Cronkite Sports Broadcast Boot Camp is a special summer camp exclusively for students currently in high school interested in sports journalism.

This sports journalism summer camp puts participants in the middle of the action covering professional sports teams such as the Arizona Diamondbacks and Phoenix Mercury. For health and safety reasons related to the pandemic, this program is going virtual for the summer of 2021.

At this broadcast camp, participants learn under the direction of veteran sports journalists. Participants will produce sports broadcast packages that will appear on our end-of-camp show, similar to ESPN’s SportsCenter and PTI. Everyone will get a recording of their broadcast package and play-by-play work. Participants will get tips on interviewing, play-by-play and how to become a better writer. There will also be interview opportunities with professional and collegiate athletes as well as well-known broadcasters. So join in the fun and meet other aspiring sports journalists from around the country!

The Sports Broadcast Boot Camp runs Monday through Friday for two weeks from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. MST with a lunch break.
