Community Conversations
Community Conversations is a joint endeavor between the Cronkite School and The Arizona Republic, Community Conversations to bring depth and context to topics of interest to Arizonans and break down barriers among newsmakers, journalists and the public. Recent events have focused on politics and the press and sports reporting and the business of baseball.

During sessions, attendees interact with prominent journalists and newsmakers to better understand how local and national news coverage affects Arizonans. They also get behind-the-scenes tours of newsrooms, TV studios and other community institutions. Most recently, participants visited Chase Field, sitting in on a press conference with Diamondbacks Manager Kirk Gibson.

Past events have featured former Sen. Jon Kyl, Arizona Diamondbacks President and CEO Derrick Hall, sports radio host and Arizona Republic sports columnist Dan Bickley and USA Today Washington Bureau Chief Susan Page. Top Cronkite faculty members also participate, moderating discussions and sharing insights with attendees.

Events take place at the Cronkite School’s state-of-the-art journalism facility on the ASU Downtown Phoenix campus and the Republic Media Building, home to The Arizona Republic, 12 News/KPNX-TV and azcentral.com.

All Community Conversations events are open to the public and are schedule at various times during the school year.
