The Sports Knowledge Lab is an immersive program in which Cronkite students produce and present a variety of curated and original content about the impact of sport on society, providing context for top sports headlines from around the world. Content includes long-form writing, documentaries, articles, newsletters, data visualization and podcasts.
The lab is part of ASU's Global Sport Institute, an international sports research and knowledge lab that translates and amplifies complex sports research to broad, global audiences. The institute is a key component of the Global Sport Alliance, a strategic partnership between ASU and Adidas that seeks to shape the future of sport and amplify sport's impact on society. Bringing together education, athletics, research and innovation, the Global Sport Alliance explores topics that include diversity, race, sustainability and human potential, all through the lens of sport.
In the Sports Knowledge Lab, veteran award-winning sports journalist Kathy Kudravi oversees the publication of GlobalSport Matters, a dynamic multimedia storytelling platform with must-read and must-know data and advice from across the world of sport. Students can enroll for credit in this professional immersion experience each semester or work part time assisting with content production.
The new Global Sports Institute encourages collaborative, multidisciplinary inquiry. It led by Kenneth L. Shropshire, an international expert in the intersection of sports, business, law and society and former director of the Wharton Sports Business Initiative at the University of Pennsylvania, who joined ASU last year.
