Mayo Clinic-Cronkite Fellowship Overview

The Mayo Clinic-Cronkite Medical Journalism Fellowship will be comprised of a week of interactive discussions, hands-on learning and experiential activities designed to bolster the knowledge and skills that top professional journalists need to cover medicine. Held in Phoenix in May, all expenses will be paid. Up to 15 experienced medical journalists will be selected.

Medical developments that we didn’t think were possible 15 years ago are now a reality. Are you prepared for what’s ahead? In this fellowship, you’ll meet with Mayo Clinic experts and discuss what’s the latest in medicine worldwide and what they’re working on today. Among the topics: augmented human intelligence, personalized medicine, regenerative medicine and much more. At the Cronkite school, you will work with some of the best journalism faculty in the country on how to improve your craft. Sessions will include non-narrative video; data reporting, narrative writing and investigative reporting. We’ll also explore fake news in health care, challenges for female physicians and other newsworthy topics.
