Cronkite Broadcast Association Panel Discussion: The Broadcast Connection

The Cronkite Broadcast Association is hosting a panel discussion with local television station professionals, advising what to expect from a career in journalism and media. The panelists will also discuss their jobs and the evolution of the broadcast news industry.

Panelists include:

Heather Gray, director of programming and marketing, 12 News: Gray's duties include overseeing station promotions, commercial production and Arizona Midday. She came to 12 News where she was a newscast director. Gray’s career path started on the TV production side in newscast directing. Twitter: @12NewsHeather.

Steve Levi, senior executive producer, FOX 10: Levi oversees content and direction of multiple newscasts at FOX 10. He rose through the producing ranks at Channel 10. He is a Cronkite Graduate. Twitter: @LeviFox10.

Ed Munson, vice president and general manager, CBS 5: Munson joined CBS 5 in July 2008. He has managed WAVY-TV in Virginia, where he also served as vice president of sales. His media career started in TV sales working as an account executive and locals sales manager before rising to top management levels.

Katie Raml, anchor, ABC 15: Raml is an award-winning journalist at ABC 15 News anchoring the 4, 5, 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts. She joined ABC 15 in 2001 as a reporter, becoming a weekend, then weekday anchor. In 2005, the Cronkite graduate was inducted into the school's hall of fame. Twitter: @katieraml.

Traci Scott, director of sales, 3TV: Scott's media career path started sales. She has worked as an account executive, director of sales and a general sales manager for organizations such as Comcast and Belo.

The discussion will be moderated by Anita Luera, director of high school journalism programs at Cronkite. She is a former TV newscast producer and news director. Her TV career spanned 27 years in Phoenix working at the CBS, Univision affiliates and Gannett’s 12 News. Luera is the president and board member of the Arizona Latino Media Association.
