The winners of the 2019 Barlett & Steele Awards will share their award-winning investigations with Professor Andrew Leckey, president, Reynolds National Center for Business Journalism. James B. Steele, part of the Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporting duo of Bartlett & Steele, will also be in attendance.

A panel of reporters will be discussing their award-winning investigations, including:

Gold:

  • Christina Jewett, reporter for Kaiser Health News, will discuss her award-winning series, "Hidden Harm," which revealed the Food and Drug Administration's granting of secret reporting exemptions to medical device makers in order to keep millions of malfunction and injury reports out of the public eye.
  • Sasha Chavkin, a reporter for the International Consortium of Investigative Reporting, will discuss "Implant Files," an investigative series in partnership with the NBC News Investigative Unit and the AP, that unveiled harm caused by medical devices that were inadequately tested by health authorities.

Silver:

  • Russell Gold, senior energy reporter, The Wall Street Journal
  • Katherine Blunt, reporter, The Wall Street Journal

Bronze:

  • Steve Suo, managing producer, The Oregonian/OregonLive
