John Misner John Misner is a veteran broadcast executive who led Phoenix’s highly-rated NBC affiliate for more than a decade. He joined the Cronkite School in 2017 and is the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship for Journalism’s Professor of Practice, Arizona PBS Senior Advisor, and ASU Foundation Senior Advisor.

Misner was president and general manager of TEGNA’s 12 News/KPNX-TV, from 2002-2016 and Chief Operating Officer of Gannett’s combined television, print and digital operation (Republic Media) from 2010-2014. He also led KMSB-TV (FOX, Tucson) and KNAZ-TV (NBC, Flagstaff.) Prior to moving to Arizona, he had broadcast management roles in Atlanta, Fresno and Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Misner has deep connections to ASU. He served as president of the Cronkite Endowment Board of Trustees from 2009-2013, endowed a scholarship at the school, earned his Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree from the university, and is the father of two Sun Devil sons.

Misner serves on the Arizona-Mexico Commission’s Board of Directors and is past-chairman of the Arizona Broadcasters Association.
