How to Apply for the Crowder Award

The Cronkite School is accepting submissions for the eighth annual Greg Crowder Memorial Photojournalism Award Contest.

Deadline: May 5, 2017

Entry requirements:

  • Submit six to eight photographs that show a range of abilities and subjects. Photos may include breaking news, portraits, features and sports.
  • Photos must have been taken between April 15, 2016 and April 15, 2017. Photos do not have to be published.
  • Provide a CD or a URL with your photos.
  • Provide a complete caption for each photo submitted.
  • Photos may not be altered digitally, except as allowed under the Society of Professional Journalists ethics standards.
  • The contest is open to all Cronkite students who have taken at least six journalism credits.

Entries should be submitted to Associate Dean Kristin Gilger at kristin.gilger@asu.edu or at Cronkite Suite 302 by 6 p.m. on May 5, 2017.

The winning photographer will receive a $1,000 award, and his or her work will be prominently displayed in the Cronkite School for a year. Honorable mentions are awarded at the discretion of the judges.

The winners of the contest will be announced before the end of the semester, and a reception to honor the winners will be held at the beginning of the fall 2017 semester.
