Steve Filmer is the executive producer of the Cronkite School's Television Magazine professional program.

Filmer joined the Cronkite School after years as an on-camera correspondent and producer for programs including ABC’s "Good Morning America," "World News Tonight" and many national cable shows.

His producing work includes coverage of major breaking news events such as the Gabrielle Giffords shootings, as well as more intimate stories such as the families devastated by the financial crisis.

Filmer worked as the consumer editor at ABC’s "Good Morning America," and as the consumer and special projects reporter at local stations in Atlanta, Minneapolis and Phoenix.

He has worked extensively in corporate video projects, including audience research for ESPN. He has worked in roles in documentary production, including as supervising producer for the film "Birthright: A War Story."

Filmer has won numerous Emmy Awards for his work in local news as well as magazine shows like "Arizona Highways Television." As a professor of practice, he will produce episodes for the upcoming 2018 season on Arizona PBS.
