Q: How can I apply for Cronkite School scholarships?
A: Applications for all Cronkite School scholarships must be submitted by completing the online scholarship form.

Q: Who is eligible to apply Cronkite School scholarships?
A: Students who have been formally accepted into the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication are eligible to apply. Applicants must have completed at least one semester at ASU. Other eligibility requirements vary for individual scholarships; please see the list of specific Cronkite School scholarships to determine other eligibility requirements.

Q: What is the FAFSA, and do I have to complete it to be considered for scholarships?
A: The FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Although not all scholarships require completion of the FAFSA, students are encouraged to complete a FAFSA form available at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ to increase their chances of receiving aid. The FAFSA becomes available on Jan. 1 every year. The deadline for filling out the FAFSA to be considered for need-based scholarships in the Cronkite School is Jan. 31 prior to the academic year for which the scholarship is awarded.

Q: What is the deadline for completing my Cronkite scholarship application?
A: The deadline is Jan. 31 each year.

Q: How will I receive my scholarship award money?
A: Your scholarship money will be deposited to your ASU student account approximately one week before classes begin in the fall. The funds will first be applied to any charges, such as tuition, that you owe ASU. If scholarship funds remain and you have set up direct deposit with ASU Student Accounts, the remainder of the money will be deposited into your bank account a few days before the beginning of the semester. If you do not have direct deposit set up with ASU and would like to set one up, you may enroll online through My ASU. Please sign up at least 15 days before the beginning of the semester to allow adequate processing time.

If you do not have direct deposit, any remaining scholarship funds will be mailed to the address you have provided ASU. Please be sure your correct local address is on file with ASU as Student Accounts will charge students a fee if checks need to be reissued. Once the scholarship funds have posted to your account, you can view the details via My ASU.

Q: How will I be notified if I receive a scholarship?
A: Scholarship recipients will be notified of their awards via U.S. Postal Service mail sometime before the end of the spring semester. Please keep your address up-to-date with the university through My ASU.

Q: Is my scholarship automatically renewed each year?
A: Unless noted otherwise, most scholarships are not automatically renewed. You will need to re-apply annually.
