Claudia Dreifus is one of the country’s leading interviewers. During her career she has worked as an interviewer for each of the New YorkCity dailies, including Newsday, the Daily News and the New York Post. She also was one of the Playboy interviewers during the 1970s and 1980s.

Dreifus came to science journalism in the 1990s after many decades as a prize-winning political reporter. She currently produces the “Conversation with…” feature for the Tuesday science section of The New York Times. Her journalism also can be seen in Newsweek, the Atlantic, the Los Angeles Times, USA Today and the Chronicle of Higher Education.

She is the author of six books, including “Higher Education?”—one of the most controversial and widely reviewed books of 2010-11—which she coauthored with political scientist Andrew Hacker. Her books “Scientific Conversations” and “Interview” are used in journalism courses worldwide.

In addition to her reporting, Dreifus teaches media and international affairs at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. She also is a senior fellow at the World Policy Institute, a New York-based think tank.
