Higuera Named Deputy Director of Reynolds CenterNov. 9, 2006 Jonathan Higuera, a veteran business reporter for The Arizona Republic, has been named deputy director of the Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Business Journalism at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. Higuera is the president of the Arizona Latino Media Association and former vice president-print of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. He is also a member of the Reynolds Center’s Circle of Achievement. “Jonathan brings a broad background working both in business journalism and with organizations dedicated to improving the quality of journalism,” said Andrew Leckey, director of the Reynolds Center. “His duties will include managing some of the center’s key programs, writing for our BusinessJournalism.org Web site and representing the center at training workshops.” Higuera’s career has included business reporting for The Arizona Daily Star and Tucson Citizen. He also held editing positions in Washington, D.C., for the Hispanic Link Weekly Report and the Foundation News & Commentary. He holds a B.A. in journalism from the Cronkite School at Arizona State University and an M.S. in Mexican-American Studies from the University of Arizona. More than 4,600 working journalists have taken part in the daylong workshops and online seminars of the Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Business Journalism over the past three years. It has been headquartered at the Cronkite School since July 1. The center is funded by the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, a national philanthropic organization founded in 1954 by the late media entrepreneur for whom it is named. Headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada, it is one of the largest private foundations in the United States. The Cronkite School is a leading professional journalism college with 1,700 undergraduate and master’s students. Contact: |
