Assistantships and Scholarships

Each year the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication has a limited number of graduate assistantships that it offers to its top applicants. Graduate assistants awarded a half-time position work 20 hours per week and provide either research or classroom support for faculty members. Students awarded these assistantships receive full tuition, health benefits and a stipend of approximately $11,000 for an academic year. Quarter-time assistants work 10 hours per week, are charged the in-state rate for tuition and receive a 50 percent remission of that tuition. Graduate assistants awarded a quarter-time position also receive an annual stipend of $6,000. Students may apply for assistantships by submitting the application form found at http://www.asu.edu/graduate/forms/.

To be eligible for any of these awards, a student must be enrolled in at least 9 credit hours of Cronkite School courses each semester.
