Cronkite students today learn in a series of full-immersion professional experiences. Throughout Cronkite Day in the azcentral.com room (256), Cronkite students and their faculty leaders will show alumni the wide array of programs and projects. The students also will be available throughout the day in their newsrooms and digital labs.
Throughout Cronkite Day, students will be in the school’s digital newsrooms, laboratories, studios and computer labs to talk with alumni and demonstrate their latest work. Alumni are invited to pop in and meet today’s best and brightest journalism students.
Throughout Cronkite Day, we will hold a series of workshops giving alumni the opportunity to have their work reviewed in a one-on-one setting with top Cronkite alums and faculty. Alumni who wish to participate are encouraged to bring samples of their work. Sign-up sheets will be available at the check-in desk in the First Amendment Forum.
Alumni and their friends and family are invited to the Sony TV Studio on the sixth floor to sit at the news anchor desk and record a greeting, read a news story or leave a memory about their time at ASU. The anchor desk action will be recorded. Brian Snyder, production specialist (’99) and his students will direct the anchor desk activities.
Student Media and Organizations
Student media and other student organizations will be represented throughout Cronkite Day in the First Amendment Forum. Plus, we’ll have tables with representatives to talk about all of the newest restaurants, clubs, stores and cultural venues in downtown Phoenix, the upcoming events planned at the Cronkite School, the ASU Alumni Association and the Cronkite Development Office.
Throughout Cronkite Day, Dean Christopher Callahan and other Cronkite faculty and staff will lead tours of the Cronkite Building, a 225,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art media complex that has won international architecture awards for its innovative, use-inspired and environmentally friendly design. Architects from Ehrlich Architects, the Los Angeles firm that designed the building, will be on hand to talk about their design philosophy and inspiration.
