Cronkite Institute for High School Journalism Applications

Candidates for the Summer High School Broadcast Institute must submit:

  • A completed application form (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader)
  • A letter of recommendation from a journalism adviser or teacher
  • An official high school transcript
  • A recent photograph (photos will not be returned)

Candidates for the Summer High School Print Journalism Institute must submit:

  • A completed application form (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader)
  • Three writing samples (published work is preferred but not required)
  • A letter of recommendation from a journalism adviser or teacher
  • An official high school transcript
  • A recent photograph (photos will not be returned)

Applying for the programs

Applications are accepted from Arizona high school students as well as from high school students from other states. Applicants must have completed their sophomore, junior or senior year in high school by the time the program begins. Preference is given to students who will be seniors in the fall of 2008. Recruiting students from diverse groups is emphasized, but all sophomores, juniors and seniors with an interest in journalism are encouraged to apply.

Applications are available through Arizona high school counselors or by e-mailing anita.luera@asu.edu or online (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader).

Applications must be postmarked by Friday, March 21, 2008.
